I don’t think any of the writers/creators realize how many of us loves Hans. How many of us thinks he’s redeemable. HOW MANY OF US THINKS THERE’S A SLIVER OF GOOD IN HIM IF YOU’D JUST GIVE HIM ONE BLOODY DAMNED CHANCE.
…or maybe they do realize but they just don’t want to acknowledge it.
I’ve already seen many villains (who have done worst deeds than Hans, like ripping out some poor shmuck’s heart out and crushing it into dust) redeemed to pretend Hans is beyond good and saving.
You know what breaks my heart in this screenshot? Right here, we see both Elsa and Hans reach their breaking points. Elsa believes that she’s lost the one person she was trying to protect; the person she loved, who loved her back unconditionally. And she thinks it’s her fault, which has always been her biggest fear in life. There was no way that she couldn’t have heard Hans draw his sword. She knew he was going to kill her, but she didn’t care. But countless people have talked about this already, so I’ll leave it at that.
On the flipside, Hans has reached the point where he’s so bitter, so desperate, so obsessed with getting the throne and proving his brothers wrong that he’s willing to do anything. He’s all but lost his humanity, and is actually enjoying the thought of murdering Elsa, because then, he’ll finally be on top. After twenty three years of being the youngest, the overlooked, the worthless spare that was constantly either bullied or ignored, he finally has a chance to be a hero; to be king. He doesn’t understand love. He knows how to use it to manipulate people, but he’s never actually felt it. If he has, it was probably used against him in a similar manner to how he used it against Anna and Elsa. In his mind, this is the greatest thing to ever happen to him, because his priorities have been so screwed up over the years. He sees it as his high point, when it’s actually his low point, and I don’t think enough people realize that.
I feel you so much.
There’s something that has been eating me up for some time and it’s the fact that if we actually try to understand why the King and Queen locked Elsa up in the first place that doesn’t really make much sense.
I mean, I can understand they were scared because her powers were growing strong and she hurt her sister (unwillingly), but why shut her out of the world? Why not sit Anna down and say “Babygirl, your sister was born with some kind of magical powers that give her the ability to create and manipulate ice and snow, and even though we know how exciting it’d be for you to want to see that, we’d like to ask you to play more normal games with Elsa, until she learns to control it, with the help of all of us”.
I mean, they could, right? Wasn’t it a little too cruel to separate them? To make Anna believe Elsa was deliberately ignoring her for no apparent reason and getting Elsa so anxious because she wasn’t being able to control her powers (which she did it perfectly when she was with Anna up until the strike)?
The forced concealment was the reason she lost it at the coronation and fled her own kingdom.
ok if we didn’t have that we wouldn’t have the movie but you get my point
I think that’s one of the reasons I felt so drawn to Helsa. They are pretty much the opposite sides of the same coin and they could help each other heal and evolve, giving each other a chance at something they didn’t have/understand.
